Estranged

I have lost my little one,

Not misplaced her,

Let go of her hand,

Or left her behind.

Yet she is gone.

No, she is not dead to me

But alive.

For as long as I have a heart

I know her.

For as long as I have my memory

I will still have her.

For as long as I breathe,

I have her inspiration.

She is gone from here,

Yet I sense no distance.

I love her, whatever,

Wherever,

And therefore have her close.

I have lost my little one,

But not my love for her.
