Awkward Awkward Awkward

This comes from a small square house,
Set in green rolling countryside.
Not quite alone, not quite home.
For I am from a conurbation
Way "up-country",
I am very Midland in many of my ways.

How do other of the awkward do?
This is an entertaining question.
In their hunt to survive
How do they fair?
In the relentless, jostle, jumble jungle.
It’s a headlong dash,
Toward forever and away from fallibility.
Being forevermore late,
Mostly latent or deemed missing.
How can the pained cope
When their pain is so draining?

With everyone else is speaking
Others words serve only drown us out.
Our short winds seem to fall silently,
Settling over the rest of us
Gathered, unnoticed in the thin air.

Against the dark of the night
Many are knelt, praying in pews
There is no where else
To genuflect
To press their point,
No button of hope for those
Anguish soaked souls.
Still the prayers rise to the rafters
And the penitents line up close to each other,
With their praise and their debts.

How the awkward struggle
In the dreary haze of living.
Who is there,
Who is here to heal their bruises,
To meet their needs?

No one gets given sight of
That virtual Cosmic benchmark
With which to align, better to compare.
They have no vestibule, nor datum to measure
No lever or anchor against which to rest.

These who constitute the awkward,
Walk everywhere on sods of existence.
Eventually these sods seep back to the soil
To disappear with no history.

Rush Poetry; Fast To Publish

The Solus Draft.

Here is a time critical approach to poetic composition. The idea of speed writing is not new. As this is not short poetry, the length of a composition is irrelevant. The time taken to the set down the Solus Draft to publishing on the web site is the goal. There must be no revision after publication.  The piece should stand as complete in the stated time frame.

This is my attempt at writing poetry in a time efficient way with recorded information made available on completion of a piece.

The recorded information is:-

  1. Copyrighted date.
  2. Place of composition/writing.
  3. Start time inc time zone.
  4. Completion time inc. time zone.

Should a piece ever be subjected to the riggers of hermeneutic analysis this information will be available to the analysist.

Example:

Questionable

If evolution
Turns out to be
Only a work in process,
Will Winter always follow the Fall?
Or is it all a matter of perspective?
So where is the Fall in the Deserts?

Clever Chemicals,
Bright Sparks,
Macro or Micro
Steady Timescape or Expansionist?
Singularity or Heaven?
Ghost, God or Chance?

Who is helping with these enquiries?

HISTORICAL NOT HYSTERICAL

Is it due to the immediacy of the touch screen and the ephemeral nature of modern communications which so concentrates the moment? There is, so it seems, little which has the power to distract. Palm up, neck bent, finding, covering, finding conferring, searching; but for what? Even a child in a stroller is insufficient to draw its mothers attention from her screen. The ease of communication is dissolving it’s very value. Effortless eyeball and digital retrieval of a plethora of information means there is little incentive for retention. There is a sequence of instant messaging and inconsequential reaction which precludes the absorbing of meaning. This in turn results in a lack of understanding. Now as understanding is a primary driver of discovery and learning the resulting outcome is widespread ignorance.

It is a somewhat frustrating tendency of some modern thinkers and communicators, even bloggers, to draw conclusion without reference to, or knowledge of recent social history. Frustrating for the observer of such fundamental gaps in comprehending what has gone before. In an era of repetitive hollow sloganeering it would be amusing to witness the empty echoey clanging of rhetoric from these so called enlightened ones, if the stakes were not so high. It may be worthy enough to desire equality of life. It is however dangerous folly to be empassioned of a cause which, in ignorance and delusion, one advances as if to be trail blazing. The truth I’d venture to suggest is that there is very little new thinking, however much it is felt, that the times are changing. This isn’t to say society is in a state of stasis. Far from it, society is by nature organic and dynamic. The mistake resides in the belief that social change can in some way be successfully Engineered. Unfortunately, as in the discovery of the delights of sex, ideas of radical social reform are among the horizons that young people are mistaken in their view that their role is something of that of the pioneer. Almost all reforms, systems or revolutions have already been actioned. Recent history of the twentieth century alone illustrates the point. There are few successes which have resulted in benefits for the masses. Revolution brings not change but a return to the starting point. Advancement is achieved not by revolving but by incremental linear improvement to a persons social condition. As yet the concept of mutual trade has not been made redundant. It is therefore by exchange the individual finds the means to meet the needs of living. Unfortunately not all exchamge is of equal value. Achieving equilibrium at this level is where the true challenge for society is to be found.

Field. (this poem is a re blog for new readers)

If I were a room
I would open my arms
And welcome you in,
Closing the door and my hands
I would keep you safe
Within me.

I would let you rest
Keeping you sheltered.
I would love your dreams
And wishes
Safe.
I would watch over you.

But alas,
I am a field.

Speeding to the Horizon, an Infinity Dichotomy (Pt1)

Speeding to the Horizon, an Infinity Dichotomy (Pt1)

There is little I would presume to dismantle
A plate of tectonic proportions for example.
Or a disjointed phrase.
Or a lucid remark
Or stroll along a parapet wall.
There would be great risk
Of failing or falling.

Here is the trap.
There is danger should it
Ever be sprung.

It begins with choices.

Who has the choice
At the outset, the beginning,
or in the twilight, the end of a life?

A = WP (without prejudice)

There is no religion here
Along this knife edge,
This sword.
Have we so evolved
To this?

This weapon.
It is unable to deliver,
It is only able to remove.
It will not compute,
It will however divide.

Removes,
Those who reject the pattern
Proscribed.
The rule,
Or Law.

Prevents,
Those who would think about
Why.
Their motives,
Or reasoning.

There is no love here
At these edges,
This blade.
How do we escape
From this?

Intelligence?
Acceptance?
Reliance?
Confluence?
Or Love?

There is no religion here,
This weapon,
Removes, Prevents,
There is no love here.
Intelligent?
